Personal Counseling Services

Helping students succeed

College is a time of personal growth and changes. It is exciting and rewarding, and can sometimes be overwhelming. Northeast understands that students might encounter difficult situations that could impede their academic, personal, and/or social progress. Many students feel anxious, depressed, confused, or overwhelmed at some point during their college experience and need help dealing with feelings and problems that seem beyond their control.

Scope of Services During COVID-19 Pandemic

Counseling Services (CS) has temporarily suspended all in person, face to face services due to the COVID-19 pandemic and increased concerns for the health and safety of our Northeast Community. CS, however, remains more committed than ever in supporting your mental and emotional health during these unprecedented and challenging times.

Despite the physical closures of the office, the counselor is still available to provide a range of services for students by phone or tele-health (video-conferencing) from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. (CST), Monday to Friday. These services include initial screenings, crisis intervention, referrals to on and off campus services, and individual counseling.

If you have a mental health emergency please call 911, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (800) 273-8255, text the crisis text line ‘HOME’ to 741741, or call the BHS CARE Line at (888) 370-7003.

Schedule an Appointment

To schedule an initial screening or virtual "walk-in" appointment, please contact the counselor at (402) 844-7277 or email at stephanie@northeast.edu.

If you are already receiving services at CS, please continue to remain in contact with the counselor.
