Who should take the MAP test?
The Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) test is administered to all full-time students, part-time students enrolled in six or more credit hours, and transfer students who have not successfully completed a college-level mathematics or English course. Students who have satisfactorily completed English Composition and a college-level math course, or students who have received ACT/SAT scores within the past three years, may be exempt.
When is the MAP administered?
The MAP is administered on a daily basis. The last MAP test for the day will begin four hours before the Testing Center closes. Call the Testing Center at (402) 844-7281 or (402) 844-7708, emailing testing@northeast.edu; or stop by the Testing Center in the College Welcome Center, Room 1252 or Room 1256, to schedule a date and time to test. Testing arrangements should be made in advance before starting your program/major.
Is the MAP timed?
The MAP is a comprehensive computer-adaptive test. The time required to complete the test varies according to each individual's needs and abilities.
Is it possible to fail the assessment?
The MAP is not a pass/fail test. The scores will identify students' strengths and needs, and will be used for initial placement in English and math courses. Students are permitted to take the MAP test twice a semester, and their scores will be good for three years.
