Farmers Mutual is hiring a Claims Adjuster Intern in our Norfolk District Office. This would be a paid internship and on-site, in-person work is required. The projected start date is May 2024 but could be flexible depending on when school is finished. Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00-4:30. General Function of a Claims Adjuster Intern Position: Persons employed in this position are responsible for, but not limited to, working towards fulfillment of the Company’s goal to provide prompt, fair, quality claims service. Serve as liaison between the home office and the agency force in the adjustment of assigned claims, inspections, and preparation of underwriting reports. Performs duties under supervisory guidance and review. Duties and Responsibilities of a Claims Adjuster Intern: •  Assist with handling assigned losses of limited variety and underwriting inspections; prepare and submit reports to appropriate department. •  Call on producing agents, as necessary, keeping agents informed of claims handling issues and underwriting inspections for their clients. Assist in keeping agents informed of company policies and procedures. •  Inspection of properties following construction completion. •  Assist in adjusting and clerical duties as directed. •  Reporting to the office on a regular and timely basis is an essential function of the position. In addition to the duties and responsibilities set forth above, the employee occasionally may be asked to assist in other duties throughout the company on an as-needed basis. Job Requirements

Qualifications of a Claims Adjuster Intern: •  High school graduate or equivalent is required. •  Aptitude for and general knowledge of construction, agri-business and/or automobile repair preferred. •  Completion of insurance related courses helpful. •  Must possess valid driver license and have good driving record. •  Ability to communicate effectively with agents, insureds and mortgagees/lien holders, via letter, electronic mail, phone and in person. •  Ability to work on own initiative recognizing the timeliness of all responsibilities and functions of the job. •  Computer proficiency. •  Ability to withstand varied working conditions, which may include indoor and outdoor work, extremes in temperature, uneven or slippery surfaces. •  Physical ability to lift 40 pounds, bend, stoop and crawl, climb ladders and to work at heights above ground level. •  Ability to tolerate prolonged standing, walking and to conduct visual inspections of insured property.
