Financial Aid Award Terms and Conditions

Answers to your questions about Financial Aid.

Amount of Award

The dollar amount of your Federal and State awards is subject to funding levels approved by Congress and is subject to change. Northeast Community College reserves the authority to adjust your financial aid award at any time to ensure proper compliance with all federal, state and institutional regulations.

Acceptance of your financial aid award indicates that you agree to comply with the rules and regulations that govern the programs for aid as well as the policies of this institution. Your award is subject to change if corrections or revisions are made to the information you provided on your applications for aid.

Additional Assistance

If you receive additional funds not listed on your Award Notice (scholarships, departmental awards, etcetera) report them immediately to the Financial Aid Office. Your aid may be adjusted as a result of these funds. If your aid is adjusted you will receive an e-mail that directs you to view your account on "My Northeast". If you have elected to not participate in electronic communication you will receive a paper award notice.

Previously Received Title IV Aid

You must not be in default on any federal educational loans, or owe any refunds on federal grants received at any post-secondary institution to receive federal student aid.

Title IV Authorization

Federal Regulations require that Title IV funds be applied to the student’s account at the college for allowable fees such as tuition, room and board, and mandatory fees. However, Northeast Community College (Northeast) must obtain your authorization to apply your Title IV funds to all other charges appearing on your student account such as: lab fees, registration fees, facilities usage fees, and other specialized departmental or college fees associated directly with taking a class.

If Northeast does not have an authorization from you, any excess Title IV funds on your account will not be applied to other charges (in accordance with federal regulations). This may result in an outstanding balance on your student account that could cause late fees and finance charges to be assessed, and/or a restriction to be placed on your registration for future semesters.

If you would like to authorize your Title IV funds to be applied to all other charges on your student account from the current year and future term financial aid disbursements, please review the Title IV authorization question in your "My Northeast" account. The Title IV authorization questions can be located under the Award Tab, select "Award for Aid Year" and then review the questions under the "Resource/Additional Information Tab".

Enrollment Requirements

As a financial aid recipient you must be enrolled and accepted as a regular student in an eligible program of study. Because aid programs can have varying status requirements, be sure to check your awards for their minimum enrollment status requirements.

Withdrawal from coursework may jeopardize your current and future financial aid eligibility. If you withdraw or are asked to withdraw, you must inform the Financial Aid Office immediately. Depending on the length of your enrollment for the academic period, you may be required to repay all or part of the aid you received. Please refer to the Return of Funds Policy.

Satisfactory Academic Progress

Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) is the measure of a student's successful completion of coursework toward a certificate or degree. Federal regulations require schools to monitor cumulative grade point average and the percentage of coursework completed at least once a year. Students who fail to achieve minimum standards may lose their eligibility for federal, state and institutional financial aid programs. Please review our SAP policy.
