911 Basic Telecommunicator

Course is offered Hybrid with 25 hours online and 15 hours in person. The 40-hour 911 Dispatcher Basic Training is designed to provide comprehensive instruction and hands-on practice for individuals aspiring to become emergency dispatchers or seeking to enhance their skills in emergency call handling. This course covers the fundamental knowledge, technical skills, and essential competencies required to excel in the critical role of a 911 dispatcher. The course meets the requirements of the Nebraska Public Service Commission dispatcher standards 40-hour basic training. Adult Driving Class

This is a driving class for individuals 18 and older, who have an LPD permit and want to learn how to drive, or individuals who want to sharpen their driving skills. Also, individuals who fail three drive tests with DMV can attend this class or hold a valid LPD for 90 days to retest. Tests passed during this class do not waive drive test at the DMV. Students will acquire the basic skills to operate a vehicle. Six hours of classroom and six hours of driving time is required. Instructor will arrange driving time with students.

American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED

This course is delivered in a Hybrid format (part online and part in-person). Participants will complete online part prior to in-person skills session. The online session introduces participants to the knowledge-based aspects of Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED, as well as the skills they will practice and master during the in-person skills session. Details on how to access the online session will be emailed when registration is complete. The American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED program helps participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac and breathing emergencies for adults. This course teaches the knowledge and skills needed to give immediate care to adult and pediatric patients and to decide whether advanced medical care is needed in a cardiac or breathing emergency.

American Red Cross Basic Life Support

The American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) course provides participants with the knowledge and skills they need to assess, recognize and care for patients who are experiencing respiratory arrest, cardiac arrest, airway obstruction or opioid overdose. When a patient experiences a life-threatening emergency, healthcare providers need to act swiftly and promptly. The course emphasizes providing high-quality care and integrating psychomotor skills with critical thinking and problem solving to achieve the best possible patient outcomes.

American Red Cross First Aid

BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR

The Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers Course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. This course is for healthcare professionals who need to know how to perform CPR, as well as other lifesaving skills, in a wide variety of in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings. Driver's Education

This is a Provisional Operators Permit driver training course for individuals 14-17 years old. A Learner’s or School Permit is required for participation and needs to be brought to the first class. The class requires 20 hours of classroom and a minimum of 6 hours of driving. Students will acquire the skills to operate a vehicle. The driving experience will be arranged by the instructor with the student, parent and or guardian within the time frame specified. NECC will provide the materials needed.

HeartCode RQI Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

HeartCode RQI ACLS is a self-directed hybrid course (part online and in-person), comprehensive eLearning program that uses adaptive learning technology to allow learners to acquire and demonstrate Advanced Cardiac Life Support skills using a personalized learning path that adapts in real time to a learner’s performance. The program is designed for healthcare professionals who need Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification and is for renewal or initial ACLS certification. This format will allow for more flexibility in scheduling than traditional ACLS courses. Skills check sessions are available daily by appointment (Monday - Friday) to complete the hands-on session. Utilizing a variety of eLearning assets such as dramatizations, Cognitive Assessment Activities, illustrations, knowledge checks and interactive activities, this program teaches ACLS knowledge and skills. Medication Aide

This course is designed to prepare the student to meet the requirements of the Medication Aide Act and the responsibilities of the medication aide in an assisted living facility and/or nursing facility. This course includes information regarding medication administration, pharmacology, rules and regulations, classification of drugs, orders, storage, abbreviations and an overview of commonly used drugs and documentation. Upon completion of this course, the student is eligible to take the state administered written exam. After successfully passing this examination and completing the application procedure, the student's name will be placed on the medication aide registry at the Nebraska Health and Human Services Regulation and Licensure, Credentialing Division. Motorcycle Rider Course

The Motorcycle Rider Course (MRC) includes classroom instruction and 10 hours of riding instruction, which is required by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. The course begins with the basics of turning, shifting, and braking and then moves onto the advanced skills and strategies for street riding. Professionally trained instructors teach in the classroom and then coach riders in a controlled riding area. Participants are required to take the Motorcycle Safety Foundation eCourse no more than 30 days prior to the start of class. Details regarding the eCouse will be emailed/mailed to the student approximately 20 to 25 days prior to the start of the first class not the registration date, along with additional paperwork needed for the course. There is no additional cost for the mandatory eCourse. The class meet Sat., 7:30 am-5:30 pm; and Sun., 7:30 am-5:30 pm.

Nurse Aide

This course is designed to meet the Nebraska Health & Human Services System training requirements for nurse aide certification and employment in long-term care facilities. This course combines classroom lecture and laboratory application for the development of basic skills needed to provide safe, effective, and caring services to the elderly or chronically ill patient of any age, in a long-term care facility. Upon completion of this course, the student is eligible to take the state written and practical skills exam. After successfully passing this examination and completing the application procedure, the students name will be placed on the basic nurse aide registry at the Nebraska Health and Human Services Regulation and Licensure, Credentialing Division. The book is located in the campus bookstore, 402-844-7140. An additional $45 fee will be required if student choose to register to take the Certified Nursing Assistant exam at the end of the course. 24-hr refresher training fulfilling one-half of the mandatory and flexible core content required for recertification as a Nationally Registered Paramedic. The topics being covered are: Mandatory Core Content: 8 hours Airway, Breathing and Cardiology, 3 hours Medical Emergencies and 5 hours Trauma. Flexible Core Content: 5 hours Medical Emergencies, 1 hour Trauma and 2 hours Operational Tasks. The cost of class includes a lunch buffet for these 3 days.

Professional Truck Driver Training

The training program is an intensive course. Students will learn to operate articulated vehicles in a training environment that includes driving on city streets, two-lane, and interstate highways. The program includes 240 contact hours, 44+ hours of behind the wheel training and 190 hours of classroom, lab, and observation. A CASA test will be provided if necessary through Adult Education. Must have CDL Learner's permit, DOT drug screen and DOT physical by the start of the first day of class. Tuition does not include the cost of books, DOT physical, drug screen, MVR report, learner’s permit or the CDL license. The Norfolk and South Sioux City locations offers six-week course scheduled Monday through Friday, meeting 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Financial assistance is available through the Community College GAP Assistance Program for students meeting income guidelines, contact Amy Kaiser 402.844.7245.
