HeartCode RQI Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

HeartCode RQI ACLS is a self-directed hybrid course (part online and in-person), comprehensive eLearning program that uses adaptive learning technology to allow learners to acquire and demonstrate Advanced Cardiac Life Support skills using a personalized learning path that adapts in real time to a learner’s performance. The program is designed for healthcare professionals who need Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification and is for renewal or initial ACLS certification. This format will allow for more flexibility in scheduling than traditional ACLS courses. Skills check sessions are available daily by appointment (Monday - Friday) to complete the hands-on session. Utilizing a variety of eLearning assets such as dramatizations, Cognitive Assessment Activities, illustrations, knowledge checks and interactive activities, this program teaches ACLS knowledge and skills. This method of learning provides training consistency and adaptability to different learning styles. Participants can work at their own pace applying their knowledge to real-time decision making. Debriefings and coaching are provided immediately after each knowledge check and each Cognitive Assessment Activity. HeartCode RQI ACLS consists of a cognitive portion that is completed online (Included in price of class) and separate psychomotor skills assessment using voice assisted manikins (VAM) with real-time audio and visual feedback to earn a valid AHA ACLS Provider eCard. CME credit is also available after completion of course.

Medication Aide

This course is designed to prepare the student to meet the requirements of the Medication Aide Act and the responsibilities of the medication aide in an assisted living facility and/or nursing facility. This course includes information regarding medication administration, pharmacology, rules and regulations, classification of drugs, orders, storage, abbreviations and an overview of commonly used drugs and documentation. Upon completion of this course, the student is eligible to take the state administered written exam. After successfully passing this examination and completing the application procedure, the student's name will be placed on the medication aide registry at the Nebraska Health and Human Services Regulation and Licensure, Credentialing Division. Nurse Aide

This course is designed to meet the Nebraska Health & Human Services System training requirements for nurse aide certification and employment in long-term care facilities. This course combines classroom lecture and laboratory application for the development of basic skills needed to provide safe, effective, and caring services to the elderly or chronically ill patient of any age, in a long-term care facility. Upon completion of this course, the student is eligible to take the state written and practical skills exam. After successfully passing this examination and completing the application procedure, the students name will be placed on the basic nurse aide registry at the Nebraska Health and Human Services Regulation and Licensure, Credentialing Division. The book is located in the campus bookstore, 402-844-7140. An additional $45 fee will be required if student choose to register to take the Certified Nursing Assistant exam at the end of the course. Prehospital Trauma Life Support

This course includes certification in Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support and covers techniques of rapid patient assessment, airway management, shock recognition and management, spinal immobilization, stabilization of fractures, kinematics, rapid extrication, geriatric trauma, pediatric trauma, thoracic and abdominal trauma, soft tissue trauma, trauma with pregnancy patients, burns, crime scenes and air medical transport. PHTLS is a continuing education course that is recognized by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) and by the Continuing Education Certification Board for Emergency Medical Services (CECBEMS). A NAEMT certification card is provided upon successful completion. Prerequisite: License or certification in one of the following fields: EMT, paramedic, nurse, physician assistant, nurse practitioner or physician. Book is available at the bookstore, 402-844-7140.
