We've included some commonly asked questions about tutoring at Northeast.
A tutor can be obtained by filling out the Tutoring Request Form. This form can also be found at the front desk of the Advising and Academic Support Center located in the College Welcome Center. If there's a tutor available, the front desk will inform you of the hours. If there isn't a tutor available, the Academic Support Coordinator will contact you with more information.
Drop-in hours are designated hours that tutors will be present in the Advising and Academic Support Center. This means you don't have to make an appointment to see a tutor—simply drop-in during the designated hours for support in a subject.
Drop-in hours are posted throughout campus in academic buildings, the Student Center, and the College Welcome Center. Drop-in hours are also posted online via the Tutoring webpage. These hours change depending on the course offerings each semester.
If there are no drop-in hours for a particular subject, a tutor may be available by appointment. Contact the Academic Support Coordinator at (402) 844-7125 for more information about scheduling tutoring appointments.
If there isn't a tutor available for your class, the Academic Support Coordinator will search for one. This process may take 1-3 weeks depending on the class. Contact the Academic Support Coordinator at (402) 844-7125 for more information.
The Math Success Center is a branch of Academic Support that's administered through the math faculty. Math faculty and tutors are available to support students in various math courses. The Math Success Center is located in the Science building room 106.
The Writing Center is a free, beneficial service that supports students on their writing needs. The Writing Center offers advice on writing anxiety, structure and formatting, writing styles, and writing mechanics. To schedule an appointment with the Writing Center, you can go to the Writing Center's page.
To become a tutor, visit the Advising and Academic Support Center in the College Welcome Center room 1284. You'll fill out a yellow form or complete an online application. Once the Academic Support Coordinator receives the completed application, an interview will be scheduled.
