We've included some commonly asked questions about tutoring at Northeast.
A tutor can be obtained by filling out the Tutoring Request Form. This form can be found in Academic Support located in Union 73. If there's a tutor available, drop-in hour cards will be available. If there isn't a tutor available, the Academic Support Coordinator will contact you with more information.
Drop-in hours are designated hours that tutors will be present in Academic Support. This means you don't have to make an appointment to see a tutor—simply drop-in during the designated hours for support in a subject.
Drop-in hours are posted throughout the buildings on campus. Drop-in hours are also posted online via the Tutoring webpage. These hours change depending on the course offerings each semester.
If there are no drop-in hours for a particular subject, a tutor may be available by appointment. Contact the Academic Support Coordinator at (402) 844-7125 for more information about scheduling tutoring appointments.
If there isn't a tutor available for your class, the Academic Support Coordinator will search for one. This process may take 1-3 weeks depending on the class. Contact the Academic Support Coordinator at (402) 844-7125 for more information.
The Math Success Center is a branch of Academic Support that's administered through the math faculty. Math faculty and tutors are available to support students in various math courses. The Math Success Center is located in the Science building room 106.
The Writing Center is a free, beneficial service that supports students on their writing needs. The Writing Center offers advice on writing anxiety, structure and formatting, writing styles, and writing mechanics. To schedule an appointment with the Writing Center, you can go to the Writing Center's page.
To become a tutor, visit Academic Support in Union 73 room 270. You'll fill out a yellow form or complete an online application. Once the Academic Support Coordinator receives the completed application, an interview will be scheduled.
