CARES Act Information
Higher Education Emergency Relief funds are available at Northeast Community College for students who are facing financial challenges and struggling to make ends meet. The funds were made available through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act known as the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF). The grants are available to students who:
- Are enrolled as a degree seeking students at Northeast
- Are eligible to receive federal financial aid (Title IV funds)
- Have incurred eligible expenses related to COVID-19
Eligible expenses are defined by the Department of Education as those related directly to the disruption of campus operations. Those expenses could include:
- Housing (rent, utilities)
- Food
- Technology (computer, internet/WIFI expense)
- Healthcare
- Childcare
- Course Materials
