COMPASSION FATIGUE – THE COST OF CARING

  • Understand the term compassion fatigue and its association with vicarious trauma and secondary trauma.
  • Examine the differences between systemic burnout and compassion fatigue.
  • Explore how institutional stress contributes to burnout and compassion fatigue.
  • Develop a daily activity plan using the five categories: boundaries, seriousness of life, recharging, healthy lifestyle, and getting support.
  • Identify the five main categories of compassion fatigue symptoms.
  • Understand how lifestyle may contribute to the probability of developing compassion fatigue.
  • Develop personal Resiliency Plan.
