Northeast Students Qualify for PTK Honorary

NORFOLK, Neb. – Sixteen Northeast Community College students were inducted recently in the largest honor society in higher education.


For over 100 years, membership in Phi Theta Kappa has signified a singular honor and a willingness to embrace the society’s shared commitment to academic excellence. Since the installation of Northeast’s Tau Chi chapter in 1996, Northeast has inducted nearly 3,500 students into the international academic honor society for two-year colleges.

The induction ceremony took place Wednesday, Oct. 2, at the Lifelong Learning Center on the Northeast campus.

This year's inductees are Chase Adams, Wayne; Oliver Begeman, Norfolk; Dylan Frohberg, Norfolk; Josephina Gasper, Genoa; Dustin Hazen, Norfolk; Danielle Martinez, Norfolk; Pray Meh, Norfolk; Ashlynn Millikan, Norfolk; Brianna Novak, Emerson; Kaylynn Novak, Emerson, Donnel Ray Pedrosa, Norfolk; Allison Siefker, Norfolk; Mallory Tuma, Ashton; Tyler Vandenburgh, Jber, Alaska; Susan Watson, Norfolk; and Mara Yindrick, David City.

PTK officers for 2024-25 are: PTK President -- Jason Wanetka, PTK Vice President of Leadership -- Breena Schwarzkolf; PTK Vice President of Scholarship -- Abigail Coe; PTK  Vice President of Followship – Aziz Tadzhibaev; and PTK Vice President of Communication – Annie Salvatori.

PTK advisers are Amana Nipp, vice president of Student Services, and Colleen Barnes, Criminal Justice and Sociology instructor.

The organization’s mission is two-fold: recognize and encourage the academic achievement of two-year college students and provide opportunities for individual growth and development through participation in honors, leadership, service and fellowship programming.
