NORFOLK, Neb. – Northeast Community College has an entertainment offering for those who may have the blues on a Sunday afternoon the week after the Super Bowl.
The Northeast Music Department will host its annual winter concert on Feb. 18, at 2 p.m. in the Lifelong Learning Center.
The free event is open to the public. The Concert Band and Concert Choir will be performing.
Selections to be performed by the Concert Band are "Shepherd’s Hey" (English Morris Dance) by Percy Grainger; Scenes from “The Louvre” by Norman Dello Joio, including "The Portals," "Children’s Gallery" and the "Finale." Other selections will be "At the Beginning of the Rainbow" by Nolan Schmit, featuring Margaret Schultz on piano, and "The Fairest of the Fair" by John Phillip Sousa.
The Concert Band is led by Kevin McLouth, instrumental music instructor/director of instrumental activities at Northeast.
Selections to be performed by the Concert Choir are "Celebrate Music" by J. Martin and "The Snow Has Come" by E. Schram. The women in the choir will perform "Sinner Man" by D. Eddlemen. The men will perform "Cold Snap" by D. Craig-Claar & M. Hayes and "Sogno Di Volare" by C. Tin.
The choir is directed by Margaret Schultz, music instructor; with Linda Boullion as accompanist.
