Trips planned for Quebec and Scandinavia

Trips planned for Quebec and Scandinavia

NORFOLK, Neb. -- Mary O’Boyle has traveled all around the world, including Canada where she has visited such cities as Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto.

Next May, she will add Quebec City and other parts of Quebec -- also known as French Canada -- to her list.

O’Boyle, who speaks three languages including French, has begun organizing a trip for late May/early June 2024 to the French-speaking province. And in late May and early June 2025, she is planning a trip to Scandinavia. Both trips are being offered through Explorica by WorldStrides...Sweden.

The education and psychology instructor at Northeast Community College has organized several international trips, including for Northeast students. This trip is not part of a Northeast trip, but it is open to Northeast students, alumni, and anyone else interested in traveling. Early bird discounts apply until Sept. 28.

The trip to Scandinavian countries will include Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway (Oslo) and a day in Estonia. It will also include points of interest in such cities as Stockholm, Copenhagen and Helsinki.

As someone who has traveled around the world, O’Boyle said she enjoys seeing different cultures and how people from other nations live.

“It is through travel that we are connected,” O’Boyle said. “Often, we focus on the things that separate us instead of focusing on the many, many things that connect us. The wonderful thing about travel is we not only learn about the people where we travel, but we learn about ourselves. As educators, members of the community or students, we bring all that experience into our interactions with others. It just makes for a much fuller experience. I encourage all my students to travel.”

To learn more about either trip, contact O’Boyle at maryo@northeast.edu.
