Northeast alum and family purchase Norfolk animal boarding business

NORFOLK, Neb. - Like many other businesses in northeast Nebraska, Happy Tails Boarding of Norfolk now has a connection to Northeast Community College.

Alum Tina Mazuch (’03) and her family recently assumed ownership of the pet boarding and grooming business from Roger and Sharon Schulz, who have operated Happy Tails Boarding for the past 32 years. The couple was in the dog business for a total of 35 years.

Mazuch, her husband, Mark, and their children, Jackson and Taylor, have lived next to Happy Tails for the past seven years. Mark plans to run the business as a full-time career. Tina will continue as director of the Health Information Management Systems (HIMS) program at Northeast. Jackson and Taylor are students at Norfolk Senior High School.

The Mazuchs look forward to continuing the Happy Tails tradition of taking care of dogs when their owners need to be away. While the business is currently geared toward dog boarding and grooming, the Mazuchs see opportunities for growth and may accept other pets in the future.

An open house is planned at Happy Tails, 3402 N. 1st St. in Norfolk, on Sat., April 29th from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
