Participants from six states take part in 37th Livestock Classic

NORFOLK, Neb. – Three-hundred-twenty head of livestock were shown during the 37th Annual Northeast Community College Livestock Classic held over the Thanksgiving Day weekend.

Michael Roeber, Northeast agriculture/livestock judging instructor and event organizer, said exhibitors from six states (Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Texas) took part in the two-day event at the Chuck M. Pohlman Agriculture Complex in Norfolk.

“It was an excellent show weekend. The weather cooperated, harvest has been completed for a while, and the exhibitors were eager to bring their cattle to the show,” Roeber said. “The total shown over the weekend was fifty head higher than last year.”

The Supreme Breeding Heifer was an Chianina shown by Braxton Donscheski, Dunlap, Iowa. The Reserve Champion Breeding Heifer was a Maine Anjou shown by Chesney Prinz, West Point. Other breeding heifer placements include Sophie Beitelspacher, Le Mars, Iowa, Commercial, (3rd Place); Rylee Johannsen, Spirit Lake, Iowa, Foundation Simmental, (4th Place); Regan Alfs, Shickley, Maintainer, (5th Place); L.J. Wells, Norfolk, Maine Angus, (6th Place); and Daniel Sullivan, Hillsboro, Tex., Commercial, (7th Place).

The Champion Market Animal was a Crossbred shown by Cade Stratman, West Point, with the Reserve Champion Market Animal, a Simmental, shown by Randon Johnke, Madison, So. Dak. Other placements include the 3rd Place Market Animal - Adam Alfs, Shickley, (Crossbred); 4th Place Market Animal - Wyatt Dunklau, Wayne, (Market Heifer); 5th Place Market Animal - Daniel Sullivan, Hillsboro, Tex. (Market Heifer); 6th Place Market Animal - Cade Stratman, West Point (Chianina); and 7th Place Market Animal - Brady Beitelspacher, Bowdle, So. Dak. (Charolais).

The Champion Market Heifer was shown by Wyatt Dunklau, Wayne, with the Reserve Champion Market Heifer shown by Daniel Sullivan, Hillsboro, Tex.

The Champion Charolais Steer was shown by Brady Beitelspacher, Bowdle, So. Dak., with the Reserve Champion Charolais Steer shown by Ryan Skatvold, Beresford, So. Dak

The Champion Chianina Steer was shown by Cade Stratman, West Point, with the Reserve Champion Chianina Steer shown by Kai Thomsen, Madison, So. Dak.

Brady Allan, Le Mars, Iowa, showed the Champion Hereford Steer with Wyatt Stemick, Pierce, showing the Reserve Champion Hereford Steer. Danny Weeda, Holstein, Iowa, showed the Champion Limousin Steer. 
 
The Champion Maine Anjou Steer was shown by Hadley Dunklau, Wayne, with the Reserve Champion Maine Anjou shown by Nick Kappenman, Madison, So. Dak.

Bailey Greving, Chapman, showed the Champion Red Angus Steer. 

The Champion Shorthorn Steer was shown by Berren Strope, O'Neill, with the Reserve Champion Shorthorn Steer shown by Cayden Holan, Pierce.

The Champion Shorthorn Plus Steer was shown by Jace Prinz, Clarkson, with the Reserve Champion Shorthorn Plus Steer shown by Graham Hagen, Anita, Iowa.

Randon Johnke, Madison, So. Dak., showed the Champion Simmental Steer with Kutter Prinz, West Point, showing the Reserve Champion Simmental Steer.

The Champion Crossbred Steer was shown by Cade Stratman, West Point, with the Reserve Champion Crossbred Steer shown by Adam Alfs, Shickley

The judge for the market portion of the show was Blaine French, Lincoln.

Breeding Heifer Division Results

The Champion Angus Heifer was shown by Devon Benes, Valparaiso, with the Reserve Champion Angus Heifer shown by Sayler Jauer, Hinton, Iowa.

Nyah Ruda, Fremont, showed the Champion Charolais Heifer, while Logan Tibken, Wiota, Iowa, had the Reserve Champion Charolais Heifer. 
 
The Champion Charolais Heifer was shown by Braysen Miller, Silver Creek. The Reserve Champion Charolais Heifer was shown by Dillon Borg, Concord.

The Champion Composite Charolais Heifer was shown by Braysen Miller, Silver Creek, with the Reserve Champion Composite Charolais Heifer shown by Devon Benes, Valparaiso.

The Champion Chianina Heifer was shown by Braxton Donscheski, Dunlap, Iowa, with the Reserve Champion Chianina Heifer shown by Kutter Prinz, West Point.

Berren Strope, O'Neill, showed the Champion ChiAngus Heifer.

Kian Morris, Wilber, showed the Champion Horned Hereford Heifer with the Reserve Champion Horned Hereford Heifer shown by Seth Wert, Hordville.

The Champion Polled Hereford Heifer was shown by Bailee McCollom, Colo, Iowa, with the Reserve Champion Polled Hereford Heifer shown by Peyton Eisenhauer, Wausa.

Hayden Hoskins, Jefferson, Iowa, showed the Champion Miniature Hereford Heifer.  

The Champion LimFlex Heifer was shown by Berren Strope, O'Neill, with the Reserve Champion LimFlex Heifer shown by Dawson Book, Logan, Iowa.

The Champion Maine Anjou Heifer was shown by Chesney Prinz, West Point, with the Reserve Champion Maine Anjou Heifer shown by Paisley Jenkins, Boone, Iowa
