Northeast celebrates the season with lighting of its holiday tree

NORFOLK, Neb. - The holiday season is underway at Northeast Community College.

Members of the Northeast Concert Choir perform prior to the lighting of the holiday tree which is located in the center of the Norfolk campus. Members of the choir, under the direction of Margaret Schultz, music instructor, performed Carol of the Bells and Stille Nacht (Silent Night) a cappella with hand chime accompaniment by the students.

Following the lighting, everyone sang carols on the way to nearby Union 73 for a performance by the choir and to view multicultural/winter displays and to have refreshments. The displays include representations of holiday celebrations observed across the world including Bodhi Day, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and Pancha Ganapati.
