NORFOLK, Neb. - Members of an organization comprised of collegiate mathematics instructors across Nebraska gathered this spring in Norfolk.

Northeast Community College hosted the annual conference of the Nebraska Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges (NEBMATYC) on its Norfolk campus. Participants from five Nebraska community colleges and the University of Nebraska-Omaha attended the event.

NEBMATYC is an affiliate of the American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges (AMATYC). A major focus of both organizations is to serve as the leading voice and resource for excellence in mathematics education in the first two years of college. The groups also provide continuous professional development opportunities to mathematics faculty.

The keynote address at the Norfolk conference was given by Dr. Ashley Cooper, mathematics instructor at Northeast Community College. Dale Johanson, mathematics instructor at Northeast, serves as the Central Region vice president on the AMATYC Executive Board.

Other members of the Northeast mathematics faculty who participated in the conference were Stacey Aldag, Jennifer Scheer, Beth Welke, and Kelly Wemhoff.

The 2023 NEBMATYC conference will be held on the campus of Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff.
