Northeast Community College encourages prospective students to fill out the FAFSA

NORFOLK, Neb. – The Financial Aid office at Northeast Community is offering an incentive for students and their parents or guardians to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. As part of Financial Aid Awareness Month, the college’s Financial Aid office is encouraging applicants to stop by and receive personalized assistance in completing their 2022-23 FAFSA.

“At the same time, these students may register to win a gift card to Northeast’s Hawk Shop,” said Stacy Dieckman, director of financial aid. "We're asking students to come in the week of Feb. 21-25 to receive assistance. If they can't make it in, applicants may schedule a virtual appointment and still qualify for the gift card."

For applicants who have already completed their FAFSA, they may stop by the Financial Aid office in the College Welcome Center on Northeast’s Norfolk campus or call (402) 844-7285 to review their financial plan for 2022-2023. These individuals may also register to win a gift card to the Hawk Shop.

Colleges use FAFSA data to determine students’ federal aid eligibility. According to studentaid.gov, many states and colleges use FAFSA data to award their own aid. After submission, applicants will receive their Student Aid Report.

“Eighty-two percent of degree seeking students at Northeast received financial aid,” Dieckman said. “The aid offered at Northeast is intended to supplement rather than replace the family's contribution. Financial assistance can be in the form of scholarships or need-based aid, and each has a separate application process.”

The online scholarship application for 2022-2023 is also open and has a priority deadline of March 1. In addition, the Financial Aid Office provides FAFSA assistance daily from 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. No appointment is necessary.
