Northeast in South Sioux City contributes $500 to Cardinal Christmas Baskets

SOUTH SIOUX CITY, Neb. - Northeast Community College in South Sioux City has made a $500 donation to Cardinal Christmas Baskets. Employees supported the cause through dress down days and other special giving throughout the year.

Over two-thousand Cardinal Christmas Basket volunteers gave less fortunate families in the South Sioux City area free meals this holiday season. Due to COVID-19 over the past two years, the organization has utilized gift cards (rather than food baskets) for families, which increases the need for cash donations. The program is a Dakota County tradition that began in 1954.

“This donation alone will help six-to-eight families have the food they need for a special Christmas meal,” said Bill Garvey, president of Cardinal Christmas Baskets.
