Northeast livestock judging team competes at Houston Livestock Show

HOUSTON, Tex. – Sophomore members of the Northeast Community College Livestock Judging Team finished 17th overall at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Contest recently.

Northeast was one of 20 junior/community college teams and 105 individuals who competed in the event that was held at the Brazos County Expo Complex in Bryan/College Station, Tex.

Individually, Blake Wert, Hordville, finished 9th in Sheep Judging, 10th in Placings, and 16th in Cattle Judging. He placed 25th overall.

“Blake had a very good day at the Houston contest,” said Michael Roeber, team coach. “He has been working hard all year, and it really came through at the contest. He was one bad card and a couple of reasons sets away from an excellent day.”

Other team members competing at the Houston contest were Jakob Andreasen, West Point, Henry Beel, Johnstown, Colton Meyer, Paullina, IA, and Atlynn Witthuhn, Callaway.

Northeast’s freshmen judging team completed their season at the Hutchinson Community College Blue Dragon Classic in Hutchinson, Kan., on Fri., April 16.
