Nebraska native to read at next Northeast Visiting Writer’s Series event

NORFOLK, Neb. – An author from Georgia will be featured during the next Visiting Writers Series event of the spring semester at Northeast Community College.

Samuel Stenger Renken, who has ties to the Stanton area, will read from his work during a virtual presentation on Wed., March 31, at 4 p.m. His presentation may be viewed through Zoom at northeast.zoom.us/j/5864654319.   

Stenger Renken’s poems have been published in Main Street Rag, The Pinch, Plainsongs, South Carolina Review and Xavier Review. His first collection of poetry, Where to Start (Logan House Press, 2011) won the Holland Prize. First Pony Out (WSC Press, 2020) is his second collection of poetry. He is currently managing director with Consolidated Planning in Atlanta.

Stenger Renken received his bachelor of arts degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University with the late Bill Kloefkorn, a Master of Arts in Literature from Clemson University with Keith Lee Morris, and a Master of Fine Arts in Poetry from the University of Wyoming with H.L. Hix.

Stenger Renken’s appearance is sponsored by the Northeast Community College English Department through its Visiting Writers Series. All events are free and open to the public.
