Helping professions to be highlighted at career and transfer fair at Northeast

NORFOLK, NE - Northeast Community College will host a Career and Transfer Fair in April for anyone interested in learning more about the occupations and college coursework required for the “helping” professions.

The event will be held Thursday, April 11, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., in the Lifelong Learning Center on the Northeast campus in Norfolk.

Kathleen Donnelly, psychology/sociology instructor, said helping professions to be highlighted at the event are those in behavioral science, counseling, human services, and social work.

“Professionals who work in a variety of helping professions will be present for a panel discussion and to visit with those interested in the professions,” she said. “Representatives from Northeast Community College, as well as several transfer colleges, will also answer questions about academic programs.”

A number of helping organizations will be represented at the Career and Transfer Fair, including the Northeast Nebraska Area Agency on Aging, Bright Horizons, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), Faith Regional Health Services, League of Human Dignity, Liberty Centre, Nebraska Department of Correctional Services, Nebraska Department of Social Services, Oasis Counseling, Region 4 Behavioral Health System, U.S. Army, Vocational Rehabilitation, and Women’s Empowering Lifeline, among others.
