Northeast golf competes in Doane Spring Invite

LINCOLN, NE - The Northeast Community College golf team wrapped up the first day of the Doane University Spring Invite at Wilderness Ridge golf course here Friday. The Hawks finished the day in tenth place with a one-day total of 339.

Hawks Coach Kurt Pytleski said his team played well on a challenging golf course.

"Our team score was about 16 strokes better than the last tournament we played in. We are not where we want to be yet, but we showed a lot of improvement from the last tournament. Our putting and chipping still need a little work, so our scores should continue to improve as the season goes on."

Brook Klinetobe leads the Hawks with an 81. Andrew Schnoor is two strokes back at 83; Mason Stubbs, 86; Capp Bengston, 89; Dylan Lilienthal, 96.

Morningside College leads the pack with a first-round team total of 288. Doane University sits in second with a 301, while Dordt College is in third place with a 311.

Northeast will play the second round of the Doane Spring Invite tomorrow at College Heights Country Club in Crete.
