Lemke-Elznic, Rivest selected to Nebraska Intercollegiate Band

NORFOLK – Two Northeast Community College students have been recognized for their exceptional musical abilities.

Connor Lemke-Elznic and Seth Rivest were selected to participate in the annual Nebraska Intercollegiate Band. The group was made up of approximately 90 outstanding instrumentalists from colleges and universities across Nebraska. 

The Nebraska Intercollegiate Band performed recently in Kimball Recital Hall on the campus of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln following a day-and-a half of intensive rehearsals. The concert was one of several that were performed during the annual Nebraska State Bandmasters Association State Convention. The band was conducted by Marcellus Brown of Boise State University.

Lemke-Elznic, a percussionist, is a graduate of Winside High School. Previously, he was selected to perform  with high school honor bands, including the 2016 Nebraska All-State Band. Lemke-Elznic is a music major at Northeast and is planning to transfer and become a professional musician.

Rivest, who plays the tuba, is graduate of Osborne Park Senior High School in Manassas, VA. He is pursuing a degree in behavioral science at Northeast. He and his daughter, live in Battle Creek.

Lemke-Elznic and Rivest are members of the Northeast Community College Concert Band, directed by Kevin McLouth, music instructor/director of instrumental activities at Northeast.

McLouth, said he is pleased Lemke-Elznic and Rivest were selected for this honor.

They had the opportunity to perform in a great facility with other great musicians and make some great music and memories.”
