“It was great to get the sweep today,” said Iris Woodhead, Hawks coach. “We were able to come out strong in the first few innings in both games and gain the momentum of the game. We will continue to work on keeping that momentum and energy with us as we get into the late innings.”
Alayna Allen picked up two saves and eight strikeouts in the four total innings she pitched.
“Alayna did an awesome job getting us out of a bases-loaded, two-out jam in the first game,” said Woodhead. “We are starting to feel more comfortable outside on the field.”
In game one, Savannah Robertson (3-for-3) had two runs, a double and an RBI. Allen went 3-for-5 with four RBIs; Chandler Hehnke, 2-for-4; Rosario Garcia, 2-for-4 with two runs; and Inese Uribe, 2-for-3 with two runs. Hehnke (1-3) earned the win.
Game two saw Emily Sherstone batting 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI. Allen went 3-for-4 with a run and RBI. Moriah Payton (2-2) was the winning pitcher.
