Welding Apprentice - Ainsworth

Job Description:

The apprenticeship program provides an opportunity for employees to learn and grow as new professionals. Apprentices will take some classes through Northeast Community College, alongside on-the-job training and mentorship. Training is approximately 3 years with opportunities to advance in a long-term rewarding career. Reporting to the General Manager, this position is responsible for taking part in the manufacturing process of our company products. As a welder, individuals are responsible to assemble and weld parts and to fabricate products. We expect our welders to complete each job with accuracy and within specific deadlines. Essential functions of this job may include frequent standing, walking, lifting, and handling products and/or materials, reaching, and repetitive motion. Our ideal candidate will have welding experience and a working knowledge of standard welding tools and techniques. Job Duties/Performance Standards for the General Welder Position o Use previous experience and knowledge to complete tasks. o Problem Solver with Strong Communication Skills o Utilize industry tools and equipment to expertly weld various metals and alloys. o Examine weld for bead size, reviews specifications, and prepares and completes work on materials by welding, cutting, grinding, and cleaning metal. o Use precision measuring tools to inspect grooves and angles. o Conduct tests to check weld quality and dimension tolerance. o Maintain proper equipment and inform the team lead if maintenance is needed. o Work with other company machinery and tools throughout the manufacturing process to support customer demands. o Agile and able to move quickly and easily while working. Weld parts in flat, vertical, and/or overhead positions. o Move necessary materials around job area as assigned. o Clean up worksite debris to keep work area clean and tidy. o Knowledge of Cattle Industry/Livestock Handling Equipment Preferred, however this can be a part of the training process. o Teammate o Learn from Others Apprentices will work part-time (Fridays) while attending classes at Northeast. Full-time employment is expected during school breaks and after completing classes.
