The apprenticeship program provides an opportunities for employees to learn and grow as new professionals in childcare. Apprentices will take some classes through Northeast Community College, alongside on-the-job training and mentorship. Training is approximately 1 year with opportunities to advance in a long-term rewarding career. Job Title -Head Start Teacher Aide Hiring Date -Starting early fall Company Overview -Northeast Nebraska Community Action Partnership (NENCAP), Inc. is a private, non-profit corporation that serves income-eligible populations in a 14-county area of Northeast Nebraska. Head Start is a NENCAP program which provides high-quality childcare to low-income families with children ages 3 to kindergarten. Early Head Start provides services for ages 0-3. Head Start has a strong impact on communities and early childhood programs across the country and within the communities served in Northeast Nebraska. Job Duties -Assist the Teacher in planning and carrying out the educational activities of the center. Record observations for children and assist the Teacher in entering observations and placing children on GOLD. Plan and implement one day per week on the lesson plan. Fill in during Teacher’s absences. Complete assigned nutrition duties. Ensure playground safety and complete appropriate checklists. Check and restock the First Aid Kit monthly. Perform cleaning duties as required by the center. Frequent kneeling, stooping, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Possess basic computer skills. Maintain confidentiality of program participants and follow Program and Agency standards and policies. Work Schedule -Full-time 40 hours per week (Monday-Friday) *Will consider part-time and substitute availability. *Seasonal summer layoff, some work opportunities may be available during the summer. Starting Apprentice Pay -Starting wage is $14.50 per hour, plus benefits. -Education and experience will be considered and may increase the starting wage. NENCAP covers the premium for our employees to receive single coverage for health, life, dental and vision for FREE! -Paid holidays, vacation and sick leave, EAP, and 401k retirement -Apprentices may be eligible for educational assistance through the TEACH scholarship which covers 80% of tuition, fees, and textbooks. TEACH recipients also receive other stipends, paid release time to attend class, and bonuses from TEACH and NENCAP.

Job Requirements

Advancement -Apprentices will begin employment as a Teacher Aide and will have opportunities to advance to a Teacher or Assistant Teacher, depending on qualifications. Added job responsibilities and title changes lead to wage increases. Other -NENCAP is a very family friendly agency.
