Electromechanical Apprentice - Norfolk

Job Description:

The apprenticeship program provides an opportunity for employees to learn and grow as new professionals. Apprentices will complete classes at Northeast Community College, alongside on-the-job training and mentorship. Training is approximately 2 years with opportunities to advance in a long-term rewarding career. Job Title -Maintenance Technician OR Mechanical/Electrical Programming Company Overview -Wis-Pak is one of the largest and most successful cooperative companies in the so?? drink industry. Wis-Pak works in cooperation with Pepsi and Keurig/Dr. Pepper to bottle and distribute products to shareholders and distributors. The Norfolk facility began production in 1988 and currently produces around 90,000 cases per day – 1 million cans, ½ million bottles, 10,000 gallons of syrup. The warehouse loads and unloads an average of 50-70 trucks per day. Wis-Pak of Norfolk employs on average 147 employees. Job Duties -Enforce high safety standards, maintain a clean work area, follow food safety and GMP Policies, and document all activity. Maintenance Technician -Perform routine preventative maintenance and ensure equipment is performing properly. -Troubleshoot, service, and repair equipment. Install and fabricate equipment as needed. -Maintain facility building and grounds. Mechanical/Electrical Programming -Monitor, program, and upgrade PLC’s and computer-generated operating systems. -Maintain and upgrade electrical programming and electrical wiring systems. -Assist with mechanical operation of all equipment. Work Schedule (days, times, and number of hours per week) -Work hours will accommodate student schedules and may include evening and/or weekend shifts. Students should expect to work approximately 10-20 hours per week during the school year and full-time during the summer and breaks. Starting Apprentice Pay (Apprentices will be employed based on skills and experience): -Maintenance Technician – starting at $28.50/hour -Mechanical/Electrical Programming – starting at $35/hour *Additional $1.50/hour night shift differential available for both positions. Benefits -Apprentices receive a competitive hourly wage. The high student pay rate can help offset tuition costs and other educational expenses. Complete company benefits package available upon full-time employment. Advancement -Apprentice will typically begin as a Maintenance Technician and receive promotion to Mechanical/Electrical Programming upon applicable skill development and training. Full-time employment available post-apprenticeship and wage increases commensurate with skill gain. Additional professional development and certifications available which lead to increased pay opportunities. Other -Full-time employment includes rotating shifts and may require evening, weekend, and/or night shift. Overtime scheduled as needed.
