Job Duties: • Monitor current traffic conditions via roadway sensors, cameras, and other field devices fed into the Operations Center; relay information to appropriate response agencies based on assessment of situations. • Answer incoming calls/inquiries from those seeking functional support or information. • Collect, consolidate, and resolve discrepancies/conflicts between real-time incident and event details captured through phone calls, camera images, radio messages, etc. • Enter event and incident information into computer log/database and generate response plans; review and implement appropriate responses in accordance with agency policies and procedures. • Transmit information to the general public via communication systems such as variable message signs, Condition Acquisition and Reporting System (CARS), Advanced Traveler Information System (ATIS), and 511 phone system. • Conduct equipment operational status checks, monitor equipment for potential problems and adjust equipment for effective operation. • Inform other response centers and staff of incidents and events and coordinate as needed with the Nebraska State Patrol communications centers and local government agencies. • Compile/write construction and maintenance event information; schedule and locations for subsequent dissemination. • Assist with 24-hour on-call duties including after-hours activation of the State Operations Center (SOC); serve on the rotation for the 24-hour Operations Emergency on-call phone. • Hours: Shift work to include days, evenings, and nights, along with weekends and holidays as needed for 24-hour coverage and On-Call. • Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements / Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Experience or training in radio dispatching or other communications work involving the operation of communication devices such as multi-phone systems or teletype machines. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience with traffic incident management, • Experience with the Condition Acquisition Reporting System and ATMS software(s). • Working experience of the State of Nebraska Roadways. Other: Regular and reliable attendance is required. KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES Windows program mastery Microsoft office Social Media communication Typing skills Solid written and verbal communication skills. Multi-line phone use Ability to disseminate information regarding incidents. Ability to coordinate with emergency response units. Ability to read and understand Maps. Ability to use good common sense under adverse and stressful situations. Ability to work flexible work hours, rotating shifts, and on-call. Ability to monitor several CCTV's simultaneously.
