Job Description:
- Western Iowa Power Cooperative (WIPCO) is currently seeking applications to fill a Lineman position at our Onawa, Iowa office. This position will be available immediately or until position is filled. WIPCO is a rural electric distribution cooperative with approximately 2,100 miles of line and serves nearly 3,500 members in West Central Iowa. Applicant must possess a thorough knowledge of electricity and electrical systems, ability to climb poles, and mechanical aptitude. Applicant must be able to construct and maintain both overhead and underground power lines in a safe and efficient manner. The ability to operate a bucket and digger truck, trencher, backhoe, cable plow, and various other equipment is also required. This position offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical and dental insurance, 401K and retirement package, paid time off, and life and disability insurance. Job Requirements
- Completion of a technical school Line Worker Program is preferred. First Aid/CPR certification and a Class A CDL are required. Pre-employment/post-job offer physical examination and drug test required. Must be available during all weather conditions, to work on-call duties after hours, weekends, holidays, evenings, and other times outside normal work hours to assist in service restoration and/or other emergencies that may arise.
