Internship Objective: The Fremont Moo has an opportunity for a current college level student looking to gain experience within the sports industry in turf management and ballpark operations. The ideal candidate will be currently enrolled in a turf management program or related college program at an accredited college or university. Prior grounds maintenance experience is preferred. Description: The Turf Management and Ballpark Operations Intern will primarily focus on helping create and maintain a quality baseball playing surface and ballpark. Intern also assists with the day-to-day maintenance of, common areas and facility grounds for events including games, practices, camps, and special events. The Internship is designed to provide a supervised learning experience for undergraduate students to build their expertise and proficiency in turf and athletic field management This position will work with other interns collaboratively. Reporting to and learning from the General Manager, this position will allow the applicant valuable learning experience towards a career in the sports field. This position will also allow the intern to gain exposure and knowledge of the entire operations of the Moo organization. Many interns have launched their career in the sports industry through an internship with the Fremont Moo. Responsibilities: General Team Responsibilities: -Hands-on opportunity that includes the daily maintenance tasks of mowing, edging, sod work and seeding, infield maintenance, clay repair, moisture management on all surfaces. -Assist with game responsibilities, batting practice set-up, pre-game preparations, in-game maintenance, and post-game duties. -Assist with irrigation system maintenance and management. -Perform regular grounds maintenance tasks including but not limited to mowing, edging, raking, weeding, and trimming. -Assist with dragging base baths, clay repair and preparation of pitching mounds and home plates. -Setup athletic fields and equipment for practices and games. -Assist with field tarp placements during adverse weather conditions. -Perform manual labor including regular lifting of heavy objects and equipment, bending, stooping, and digging to maintain grounds. -Inspect, clean, and help maintain grounds keeping equipment to ensure safe and proper operating conditions. -Comply with OSHA safety standards. -Other duties as assigned by the General Manager. About the Organization: The Fremont Moo began playing in 2019. Each team in the league operated similar to a professional minor league team, providing players an opportunity to play under the same conditions using wooden bats, minor league specification baseballs, experiencing overnight road trips, and playing nightly. The environment for fans is family-friendly and community focused. The Fremont Moo have won 2 league championships in the first 5 seasons of existence. The Fremont Moo have a mission to use FUN and affordable entertainment provided by the Moo organization as a vehicle to make a positive difference in the lives of our families, businesses, players, and communities we serve. Moo Baseball is more than just a baseball game. In fact, many of our fans don’t attend our games just for the baseball game. They come for the fun promotions, theme nights, daily specials, food/drinks with friends, family, or colleagues, and overall entertainment value the Moo and our business partners provide. Compensation: All interns will receive a monthly stipend to assist with travel and living expenses. Housing may be available with a host family. All interns receive free food after home games, tickets, and many more perks. Credit: College credit towards a major, minor or general elective may be earned and is desired. Job Requirements

The following are prerequisites for the position: -Well-organized – we are a lean and efficient organization and need to stay organized to be successful. -Be enrolled in a Turf Management Program or related field. -Eagerness to learn and advance in the industry with high attention to detail. -Ability to work irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays. -Ability to lift/move/carry items weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. -Ability to lift/move items weighing up to 75 pounds on an occasional basis. -Ability to use/operate typical grounds keeping hand tools and power equipment on a regular basis for long periods of time. -Ability to work in a hands-on position in all weather extremes for extended periods of time. -Goal-oriented – like the players, the front office will set goals and use them to measure our success. -Ability to multi-task and work independently –we all chip in, and we need people that can do the right thing and display the ability to be a self starter. -HS Diploma and work towards a college degree required. -Candidate must be prepared to work game nights and other stadium events during the season. -Very comfortable with fan interaction. -Commitment, timeliness, and positivity are required.
