Senior Merchandiser - Norfolk, NE

Job Description:

Position Summary: Norfolk Crush is a facility that processes 110k bushels of soybeans daily into soybean oil, soybean meal, and soy hull pellets. The Senior Merchandiser will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day trading and logistics activity of the plant. This position will help the Director of Trading and Merchandising achieve Company goals while maintaining a strong relationship with customers, both external and internal. The Senior Merchandiser will also help train other merchandisers and originators to deliver the best customer experience to the farmer and other commercial companies. Duties & Responsibilities: Plan, develop, organize, implement, and direct the organization’s trading guidelines. Monitor positions and logistics for all commodities being received and shipped from the location. Assist in the execution of short and long-range business objectives under the direction of the CEO and Director of Trading and Risk Management. Participate in the community, attend events put on by local organizations as well as Company functions that are used to build stronger relationships in the community. Comply with and follow governing trade rules and regulations (NGFA/NOPA). Work with internal partners to obtain Company goals and objectives. Build a strong customer base that will help you the individual, as well as the Company, achieve KPI’s and financial goals. Supply chain management which involves incoming feedstock, outgoing finished products, as well as processing aids and other inputs. All other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree preferred. Five (5) to ten (10) years’ related experience in the merchandising field preferred. Must have effective oral and written communication across different levels and departments. Ability to develop new territories to help achieve Company targets. Experience in the soybean crush industry or related experience. Knowledge of state and federal regulations. Work well in a fast-paced environment. Has an entrepreneurial mindset. Ability to travel within territory as well as occasional overnight travel. Business Acumen: Technical Knowledge and Skills – Experience with bioprocessing or related industrial production (crushing, refinery, roasting production, etc.); experience with large scale production equipment, automation, troubleshooting, repairs, and oversite of key vendors; combined technical and process (chemistry, bioprocess) understanding important to have success in this position. Planning and Organizing - Establishing courses of action for self and others to ensure that work is completed efficiently. Prioritizes, determines project/assignment requirements by breaking them down into tasks and identifying types of equipment, materials, and people needed; leverages resource and takes advantage of available resources (individuals, processes, departments, and tools) to complete work efficiently; coordinates with internal and external partners. Decision Making - Identifying and understanding issues, problems, and opportunities; comparing data from different sources to draw conclusions; using effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions; taking action that is consistent with available facts, constraints, and probable consequences. Innovative - Generating innovative solutions in work situations; trying different and novel ways to deal with work problems and opportunities. Working Conditions Physical Requirements: Ability to frequently bend, squat, climb, sit, stand, walk, handle objects, reach above shoulder level, use fine finger movements and push/pull. Ability to occasionally kneel. Ability to frequently carry/lift light to heavy loads of up to 50 lbs.
