Cattle Movement Team Lead (Horseback)- $2,000 Hiring Bonus - Broken Bow, NE

Job Description:

We have a horseback opportunity for a leadership-minded individual to work within our Cattle Movement team at the South Lot in Broken Bow, Nebraska. The individual in this position will assist with coordinating movements within the feedyard, assist with the flow of cattle to and from the processing/sorting facility, and assist with the unloading and movement of cattle, while also promoting teamwork and communication. This person will be responsible for: Primary Responsibilities: Coordinating the Cattle Movement personnel and operations, as directed by the Cattle Operations Manager, including: driving a culture of safety, quality, efficiency and teamwork, driving a culture of quiet cattle handling and cattle care, ensuring strict protocol adherence and antibiotic stewardship, serving as a primary trainer in the Cattle Movement and area, ensuring cleanliness and maintenance of the equipment and facilities, driving data collection improvements and ensuring data integrity, communicating and supporting company strategies and policies, Coordinating cattle movements within the feedyard and communicating with other departments, as needed. Assisting with the unloading and movement of incoming cattle. Assisting with the flow of cattle to and from the processing/sorting facility. Checking water tanks to ensure they are functional. Gathering loose cattle and taking them to their appropriate pens. Communicating constantly within team and with other teams to maintain a safe and productive work environment. Safely operating equipment (e.g. side-by-sides, tractors, pay loaders, mobile hospitals, trucks and trailers). Maintaining, cleaning, washing, and disinfecting equipment and facilities daily and as needed. Staying current with all required trainings and SOP's. Assisting in other areas of cattle production as needed. Meeting punctuality and attendance expectations. Secondary Responsibilities: Being accountable for cattle health in assigned zones by: Identifying sick or injured cattle. Pulling cattle to appropriate hospital pens/doctoring facilities Treating cattle per appropriate protocols based on diagnosis and inputting data into the computer Sorting and returning cattle to appropriate pens Monitoring, sorting and verifying cattle in special pens Utilizing animal health reports and interpreting the data to support decisions. Reviewing reports and assisting with loading railer cattle trucks. Evaluating and euthanizing non-ambulatory cattle when required. Assisting with post-mortem examinations, as needed. Performing preventative maintenance, inspections, and pre-start checks on equipment and facilities daily. Troubleshooting computer issues and contacting leadership and/or IT as needed.

Job Requirements

This position requires: Individual must provide, shoe, and maintain three (3) head of horses and pass Adams pre-employment horse evaluation and diagnosis test. Individual must be able to work holidays, extended hours, and weekends. Individual must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Exerting 25-50 pounds of force rarely; 10-20 pounds frequently. Standing, sitting, walking, carrying, lifting/lowering, pushing/pulling, bending, twisting, climbing, crawling, stairs, reaching/handling/grasping occasionally; kneeling/crouching rarely. Compensation Details: $20.00 to $23.00 per hour. $2,000 Hiring Bonus $550 per month horse pay for ongoing expenses + free grain and hay + up to $1,500 horse reimbursement every other year.
