Job Description:

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineering Laboratory Coordinator to play a pivotal role in our department. The laboratory coordinator will lead and manage our labs, shops, and a team of dedicated student employees. Duties: Responsibilities will include supervising the department’s Equipment Technician, ensuring the machine shop runs efficiently, and training student mentors. This requires various skills, such as manual and power hand tools, metrology, wood shop tools, metal machining (including manual and CNC milling and turning), and welding (arc, MIG, and TIG-GTAW). In addition, the lab coordinator will set up, maintain, and operate department shop equipment, manage equipment inventory, and assist faculty and students with project manufacturing and assembly.

Job Requirements

Qualifications: To excel in this role, the right candidate should possess a solid understanding of automotive and diesel technology, internal combustion engines, electrical systems, computer hardware and software, welding technology, and safe handling of hazardous materials. An ability to diagnose malfunctions, operate diagnostic equipment, and visualize end products will be crucial. Strong interpersonal skills are essential for establishing effective working relationships with colleagues and students.
