NORFOLK, NE - Mary Honke, interim co-president of Northeast Community College, welcomes Walter “Ted” Carter to the Northeast campus in Norfolk recently.

Northeast was the site of a community forum for Carter, the priority candidate to be the next president of the University of Nebraska, to meet with the public. The forum, one of several to be held across Nebraska, is part of a 30-day public review period before the university’s Board of Regents formally considers his appointment. Carter is a retired vice admiral in the U.S. Navy and immediate past superintendent of the U.S. Naval Academy.
