  • Enter information into databases or software programs

Hands-On Learning Opportunities and Courses

Woman working on computer at desk. In the apprenticeship program students gain paid, on-the-job training experience working alongside experienced professionals. In addition to hands-on learning opportunities at a jobsite, students group their knowledge in the classroom. Classroom instruction in the accounting clerk apprenticeship includes:

  • ACCT 1200 Principles of Accounting I
  • ACCT 1210 Principles of Accounting II
  • ACCT 2020 Accounting with QuickBooks
  • ACCT 2030 Payroll Accounting
  • ACCT 2260 Individual and Business Income Tax

Program Details

Apprenticeship is an industry-driven, high quality career pathway where businesses can develop and prepare their future workforce and individuals can obtain paid work experience along with classroom instruction.

225 hours of classroom instruction and approximately 1 year of on-the-job learning.

Courses follow a traditional college semester schedule on the Norfolk campus. Some classes may be available online. On-the-job training is offered at an employer site.
