What You'll Learn As An Apprentice
- Provide technical support for hardware and software
- Resolve computer issues and operate trouble ticket systems
- Manage IT assets including inventories and acquisitions
- Understand information security
- Install hardware, software, or peripheral equipment
- Communicate effectively with clients or end users
- Maintain and repair computer hardware
Hands-On Learning Opportunities and Courses
In the apprenticeship program students gain paid, on-the-job training experience working alongside experienced professionals. In addition to hands-on learning opportunities at a jobsite, students grow their knowledge in the classroom. Classroom instruction in the IT Help Desk Technician Apprenticeship includes:

- BSAD 2050 Business Communications
- INFO 1600 PC Systems Maintenance & Repair
- INFO 1610 PC Systems Maintenance & Repair Lab
- INFO 2650 Network Servers
- INFO 1850 Operating Systems II
- INFO 2610 Computer Support Technology
Program Details
Apprenticeship is an industry-driven, high quality career pathway where businesses can develop and prepare their future workforce and individuals can obtain paid work experience along with classroom instruction.

315 hours of classroom instruction and approximately 1 year of on-the-job learning.
Courses are held in-person on the Norfolk campus. Some classes may be available online. On-the-job training is offered at an employer site.

Upon completion apprentices are awarded a Technical Services Support Certificate
and a National Apprenticeship Credential.

Courses follow a traditional college semester schedule on the Norfolk campus. Some classes may be available online.
