What You'll Learn As An Apprentice
- Maintain a clean and safe environment
- Practice infection control and proper patient care
- Communicate effectively with patients and the medical team
- Follow regulations for resident care and confidentiality
- Assist individuals with personal care and daily life activities
- Promote resident's developmental, health, and social needs
- Provide basic restorative skills and services
Hands-On Learning Opportunities and Courses
In the apprenticeship program students gain paid, on-the-job training experience working alongside experienced professionals. In addition to hands-on learning opportunities at a jobsite, students grow their knowledge in the classroom. Classroom instruction in the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) apprenticeship includes:
- NURA 1110 Nurse Aide
- HLTH 1120 Medication Aide
- HLTH 1060 Comprehensive Medical Terminology
Program Details

Upon completion apprentices are awarded a National Apprenticeship Credential, a Nurse Aide Certification, and a Medication Aide Certification.

Nurse Aide | Duration ranges from 3 weeks to full semester course. Available year round and may be daytime, evening, or all day schedule. Locations include Norfolk, O'Neill, South Sioux City, West Point, and others. |
Medication Aide | Duration ranges from 2 weeks to a full semester course. Available year round and may be daytime, evening, or all day schedule. Locations include Norfolk, O'Neill, and South Sioux City. |
Comprehensive Medical Terminology | Full semester course available year-round online or on the Norfolk campus. |
