Hands-On Learning Opportunities and Courses

Student working on electromechanical lab project. In the apprenticeship program students gain paid, on-the-job training experience working alongside experienced professionals. In addition to hands-on learning opportunities at a jobsite, students grow their knowledge in the classroom. Classroom instruction in the electromechanical apprenticeship program includes courses such as:

  • Automated Controls

Apprenticeship is an industry-driven, high quality career pathway where businesses can develop and prepare their future workforce and individuals can obtain paid work experience along with classroom instruction.

1,635 hours of classroom instruction and approximately 2.5 years of on-the-job learning.

Courses follow a traditional college semester schedule on the Norfolk campus. On-the-job training is offered at an employer site.

Courses follow a traditional college semester schedule and classes are typically Monday through Thursday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. All courses are in-person at the Norfolk campus.
