Northeast Community College will be offering courses via multiple delivery methods. Synchronous learning means that students are required to participate in class at specified day(s) and time(s). Asynchronous learning means that students engage in instruction and coursework on their own schedule in accordance with course deadlines.

On your class schedule, you will notice changes in the “Location” of classes. Course locations will be one of the following options:

Classroom Based

Course instruction is delivered synchronously in a designated classroom. Canvas assignments can be assigned.
Location is CLASSROOM

Example of Classroom Based instruction. Schedule entry will include class date and meeting times with a room location.

Online

Course instruction is delivered asynchronously. All content will be delivered online. Canvas assignments are assigned.
Location is OLIN

Example of Online Course which is designated with "online" in the date, time, and location fields.

Virtual

Course instruction is delivered synchronously via Zoom. Canvas assignments are assigned.
Location is ZOOM

Example of virtual course includes date and times for meeting and Zoom in location field.

Hybrid

Course instruction is delivered in a combination of synchronous and/or asynchronous. Students will attend in the classroom and online; in the classroom and via Zoom; or via Zoom and online. Canvas assignments are assigned.
Location is CLASSROOM and OLIN; CLASSROOM and ZOOM; ZOOM and OLIN

Example of Hybrid course includes 2 entry lines including date and time with a designated room location and online in date and location.

BlendFlex

Course instruction is delivered asynchronously with optional synchronous opportunities provided. All core content will be delivered online with in-person activities that enhance online components. The student chooses how they will participate in each class period. Canvas assignments are assigned.
Location is CLASSROOM, OLIN, ZOOM.

Blendflex includes dates/times/locations as well as online.

HyFlex

Course instruction is delivered both simultaneously in the classroom and via Zoom on specified day(s) and time(s), and online on demand. The student chooses how they will participate each class. Canvas assignments are assigned.
(Location is classroom, OLIN, and ZOOM)

Hyflex allows for student choice with dates, times, locations.

Emporium

Course instruction is based/paced individually for students and delivered via a third party with assigned instructor.

 Emporium includes where, date range, schedule type and instructors
