Degrees and Programs
The Freshman students will develop their basic skills with courses in wind energy fundamentals, basic electricity, wind turbine systems, and continue with motor controls, mechanical systems, blueprint reading, and fluid fundamentals. The Sophomore students will engage in wind electronics for control systems that interface with programmable logic controllers and SCADA systems. Students will understand high voltage safety, lockout/tagout, rescue at heights, basic troubleshooting skills, rigging, and climbing safety. Though the knowledge provided by this program is broad, graduates will be positioned for a successful career in the wind energy industry.

Intern Information
Internships with businesses will give you networking opportunities and a chance to build your skills. Freshman Wind Energy students will have the opportunity for paid internship over the summer.
Career Information
Wind turbine service technicians maintain and repair wind turbines. Wind turbine service technicians generally work outdoors, in confined spaces, and often at great heights. Most wind techs work full time, and they also may be on call in the evening or on weekends.

Salary Information
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Wind turbine technician median pay for 2023 was $61,770 per year. The job outlook growth rate from 2023-2033 is expected to increase 60% (compared to 4% for all occupations).
