Degrees and Programs
Northeast is one of the only schools in the area that offers certification exams through the Air Conditioning Refrigeration Institute (AHRI). You'll also receive 1,000 hours of lab time to practice what you learn in the classroom. You'll learn "go green" procedures that are friendly to the environment.
In the program, you'll study the physical, mechanical, and chemical principles of refrigeration and air conditioning, with emphasis on electrical controls and motors. You’ll gain proficiency in blueprint reading, sheet metal construction, proper ventilation installation, heating and cooling diagnosis, and installation of residential and commercial equipment. The program will prepare you for skilled positions installing and servicing electrical, heating, and cooling systems.
Classes are held Monday through Thursday, allowing for a three-day weekend.
Wayne State College will accept up to 66 credit hours from Northeast toward a bachelor of science degree in technology.

Career Information
Heating, air-conditioning, and refrigeration systems consist of many mechanical, electrical, and electronic components, such as motors, compressors, pumps, fans, ducts, pipes, thermostats, and switches. Technicians must be able to maintain, diagnose, and correct problems throughout the entire system. To do This, they adjust system controls to recommended settings and test the performance of the system using special tools and test equipment.
