Nontraditional Programs

Careers That Have No Gender

A nontraditional occupation is one that employs primarily one gender. Traditional and stereotyped views still influence career choices and restrict job opportunities. No matter what your background, level of education or personality, you can benefit by learning more about nontraditional occupations.

Women may consider male-dominated fields such as construction, transportation, electronics, computer technology, engineering and many other technical fields. These jobs offer high wages, good benefits and career ladders. While women have dominated nursing, health technology and teaching, men have excellent opportunities for advancement and will utilize technical skills in these fields.

Students of both genders need expanded job options. Gender and racial diversity make all occupations stronger.
