Northeast FBLA Earn 20 trophies at State Conference, Qualify for Nationals

KEARNEY, Neb. – Several business and information technology students from Northeast Community College have qualified for the National Future Business Leaders of America – Collegiate (FBLA-C) Conference this summer after excelling at the state level.

At the recent State Leadership Conference in Kearney, Northeast students earned an impressive 20 awards, with top honors in key categories such as Marketing, Computer Science, and Public Speaking. Jacie Ambrose also received the Who’s Who in Nebraska FBLA-Collegiate and will be honored at the National FBLA-Collegiate Leadership conference in Dallas this June.

Three Northeast students were elected as Nebraska state officers. Parker Clausen was elected the Nebraska State FBLA-Collegiate President, Jacie Ambrose was elected as the VP of Communications, and Roman Briley was elected as the VP of Membership. Northeast FBLA-C received the largest two-year chapter award.

“Our competitors, who placed at the top of their respective categories, will be moving on to the National Leadership Conference in Dallas this June,” said Angie Shaffer, business instructor and Northeast FBLA-Collegiate adviser.

The Northeast team competed against many four-year schools, including the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, University of Nebraska-Kearney, University of Nebraska-Omaha, Midland University, Chadron State College, Peru State College, Wayne State College, Wesleyan University and York College. The other two-year college represented at the conference was Mid-Plains Community College.

Shaffer said FBLA-C focuses on developing leadership, communication, and team skills in its members, as well as giving members an opportunity to meet and network with other FBLA-C members at the local, state, and national levels.

“FBLA-C places an emphasis on helping students transition to the business world,” she said. “There are approximately 11,000 FBLA-Collegiate members on college campuses across the country.

Cara Hoehne, business instructor and FBLA-C co-adviser, echoed Shaffer’s sentiments, praising the students for their hard work and dedication.

“These students have put in an incredible amount of effort to prepare for competition,” Hoehne said. “Their success at the state level is a testament to their commitment to excellence, and I’m excited to see them compete on the national stage.”
