NORFOLK, Neb. – An author, poet and freelance writer who helps aspiring poets hone their skills will be presenting next week at Northeast Community College.
Charlene Pierce, who is from the Omaha area, has been published in Misbehaving Nebraskans, 805 Lit, Quarter(ly), The GildedWeathervane, and others. Her poem in The Good Life Review was nominated for “Best of the Net.”
She is a copyeditor for Raleigh Review, a Merit Scholar in the Pacific University MFA program.
Pierce will speak on Wednesday, Feb. 12, from 4 to 5 p.m. as the first speaker in this semester’s Visting Writers Series. The presentation will be at Union 73 in the upper level, near the coffee shop.
The event is free and open to the public. Bonnie Johnson-Bartee, Northeast English instructor, is the coordinator for the Visiting Writers Series.
Pierce is the founder and president of the Nebraska Poetry Society. Among other things, the Nebraska Poetry Society offers workshops and other events for writers, along with poetry contests.
