Multitalented Instructor Honored at Northeast for Extra Effort, Excellence

NORFOLK, Neb. –- Northeast Community College is fortunate to have faculty who organize speakers and develop new curriculum to better align with current industry trends.

Brandon Keller, ag instructor, not only does that – as do many Northeast faculty as President Leah Barrett recently pointed out -- but he goes beyond that.

“Brandon embodies everything that Northeast Community College strives to achieve,” Barrett said. “He is a servant leader who always puts students first and continuously works to improve both his own skills and the institution as a whole. His involvement in the Advanced Technology Education US National Science Foundation grant, along with his representation of Northeast at numerous conferences and career workshops, highlights his ongoing commitment to our students’ success.”

Keller was named the US Bank Northeast Community College Faculty Instructor of the Year on Tuesday, Jan. 7, as part of the college’s Spring Semester In-Service.

Keller was one of four US Bank honorees who were recognized. Along with the award, honorees also receive a $250 stipend.

“This person is the epitome of an innovative educator and dedicated team player,” Barrett said. “In the classroom, he seamlessly blends theory with practical, real-world applications, providing students with meaningful examples to connect discipline concepts to the industry. There is a commitment to student success that is evident in lectures, hands-on activities, and unique learning opportunities.”

Keller is active in the ag department advising students and student organizations, traveling with students, reviewing scholarship applications, writing grants and serving on search and other college committees.

As a student club adviser, he organizes monthly speakers and provides learning opportunities for students and the public. His impact on the curriculum is equally significant. Four years ago, he redeveloped a new curriculum to better align with current industry trends, allowing for more elective options and offering students greater flexibility in shaping their careers.

Keller is currently pursuing his doctorate degree while also giving back through roles with the Norfolk community Theatre, Norfolk Family YMCA and Boy Scouts of America. He was named one of Norfolk’s “Top 20 Under 40” in 2023 by CONNECT.

“On behalf of Northeast Community College, we extend our deepest appreciation to Brandon Keller for his exceptional work, dedication, and service to our campus and community,” Barrett said. “His many accomplishments, both professionally and personally, make him an invaluable asset to all of us.”
