Angela Kennecke will speak on Friday, January 18, from 1-2:30 p.m. in Room 126 at the Northeast Community College South Sioux City extended campus, 1001 College Way. The event is free and open to the public.
A veteran broadcast journalist and award-winning investigative reporter, Kennecke anchors nightly newscasts for KELO-TV in Sioux Falls, SD. She skyrocketed to the national news scene in 2018 when she reported on the story of her daughter Emily’s death from fentanyl poisoning.
Kennecke speaks passionately to national and international audiences about the issues surrounding opioid addiction and the frustration and helplessness parents often feel. She aims to erase the stigma surrounding addiction while advocating for increased funding, better treatment and research, and a deeper understanding of the opioid crisis.
The Visiting Speaker Series is part of TGIF (Trending Topics, Great Gatherings, Insightful Information, Friday Fun) at Northeast’s South Sioux City extended campus. It is designed for the general public and will host other speakers from diverse backgrounds throughout the spring semester.
