Northeast celebrates the spirit of the season

NORFOLK, NE – The spirit of the season is shining brightly on the campus of Northeast Community College. Students, faculty and staff joined Dr. Michael Chipps, president, as he flipped the switch to light Northeast’s Holiday Tree.

“As you pass by the Holiday Tree over the next few weeks, I hope all of you, especially our students, will see it as another reminder of how Northeast serves as your home away from home,” Chipps said at the lighting ceremony.

The ten-foot “pine” is located near the Northeast Library/Resource Center along a pedestrian walkway. It sits under a common-area shelter in the middle of the walkway, which is used heavily throughout the day.

Chipps said the tree is a symbol that can serve as a reminder for much of what the College can be grateful for as we begin the holiday season.

“We are so fortunate to have such a fine, outstanding college that people in this region have come to rely on.”

Members of the Northeast Choir sang holiday carols during the ceremony. The group is under the direction of Stewart Cramer with Margaret Schultz as the accompanist.
