Visiting Writers Series continues with two Omaha-area poets

NORFOLK, NE – Two poets from the Omaha area will read from their works at an upcoming installment of the Visiting Writers Series at Northeast Community College. Cat Dixon, Papillion, and Emily Borgmann, Omaha, will present on Wednesday, November 14, at 4 p.m. at Hawks Landing in the Northeast Student Center.

Dixon is the author of Eva and Too Heavy to Carry, both from Stephen F. Austin University Press, as well as The Book of Levinson and Our End Has Brought the Spring, both from Finishing Line Press. Along with Michael Catherwood, she edited Watching the Perseids: The Backwaters Press 20th Anniversary Anthology. Her poetry and reviews have appeared in numerous journals and anthologies, including Sugar House Review, Midwest Quarterly Review, Coe Review, Eclectica and Mid-American Review.

A poet, essayist and first-generation college graduate, Borgmann works as a writing educator in her community. She is the recipient of an Academy of American Poets Prize and was awarded a 2018 Individual Artist Fellowship in Literature from the Nebraska Arts Council. Borgmann’s poems, essays and book reviews have appeared or are forthcoming in Copper Nickel, The Laurel Review, Green Mountains Review, Salamander and Alligator Juniper.
