Northeast signs Howells-Dodge standout

NORFOLK, NE – Northeast Community College has added Macey Kulhanek to its 2018-19 women’s basketball line-up. Kulhanek is a 5’6” guard who played for Howells-Dodge High School.

During her senior year, she averaged 15.6 points per game with 4.5 steals, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. She set a single season school record with 95 steals.

Hawks Coach Matt Svehla is excited to have Kulhanek join the team.

“Macey is the type of player who will get after it. She plays hard and she brings great energy to the court. Macey has that attack mentality on both ends of the court which can be seen by looking at her high free throw attempts and also her season record high 95 steals. She also comes from a high school program that has a very strong winning tradition.”

The Jaguars won the Nebraska Class C-2 State Championship in 2017, while finishing runner-up in Class D-1 in 2016 and third in Class D-1 in 2015.

During her prep career, Kulhanek was named to the All-East Husker Conference First Team and was a member of the Norfolk Daily News’ “Elite 8” team.

Kulhanek joins recent signees Eriana Brown, Des Moines, IA, Emina Hadzihusejnovic, Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Blake Mann, Burwell, Kyla Moore, Norfolk, Katie Richards, Surrey, England, and Jacalyn Schwanebeck, Hyannis, to join the Hawks’ program.
