Northeast baseball falls to NIACC at Region XI tournament

CLINTON, IA - The Northeast Community College baseball team fell to North Iowa Area Community College at the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Region XI Division II tournament here last night. The #7 Hawks lost to the #2 Trojans, 7-2.

The Hawks scored their two runs in the first and ninth innings. In the first, Drew Smith (1-3) singled up the middle, then Brennen Bales (1-4) doubled to right field, scoring Smith. In the ninth inning, Jackson Tingwald (1-3) advanced to third on a passed ball, and Cole Spears (1-4) singled through the right side, scoring Tingwald.

Also for Northeast, Christian Dumont finished 2-4; Kaden Hendrix, 1-4; David Richardson, 1-4. Cade Halvorson had the loss.

The Hawks (18-37-1) will continue in the Region XI tournament today when they face #6 Des Moines Area Community College today at 3 p.m. The winner of that game will advance to play the loser of the #1 Southeastern Community College-#5 Ellsworth Community College game.
